The Freakers were Candlejack all along!!
Nice photo. Getting strong Lijiang Tower - Garden vibes from this.
This is a totally legitimate question, and I wondered the same thing. The normal solution would be to write “all the way from Atlantic City to DC” and then add a note at the beginning or end saying something like “This book excerpt has been lightly edited for publication at Jezebel.” This is the standard practice for…
I really respect the commitment to the bit from the “I might need medical” guy.
It’s... “chewing out,” right? He meant to say “chewing out.”
Me 2 minutes ago: Who is Peely?
This reminds me of walking around after playing Mirror’s Edge for a long time and having my eyes flick involuntarily towards anything that was painted red...
I was just going to mention this—it’s called the Fan-Controlled Football League, and I believe it was initially tied to an ICO for some reason (lol) until that aspect was shut down by regulators. I got an email from Indiegogo about it because it was the first ICO attempt on their platform.
I wonder if some of this could be mitigated by limiting the number of times you can appeal a ban, or otherwise attempt to circumvent a ban (through any means, not just sockpuppeting) to talk to someone who has banned you. Like say the second time you appeal a ban, you get a warning; the third time, your account gets…
This would be difficult to implement due to the ways Twitch differs from Facebook: it’s basically a big, public, free TV with thousands of channels, not a social network. If you ban a specific account from watching your Twitch channel, they can just... log out and keep watching. To get around that, you would basically…
This is what I came here to say. It was right there in the headline all along! Right there for the taking!!
Are there any game genres that you feel are underrepresented in the modern video game landscape, and that you wish developers would release more of? Like, I dunno, isometric RTSes or pure puzzle games or something?
Sad news. My favorite of his Civ V lines is “A horse - a horse - my kingdom for a horse!” because most of his readings are generally pretty restrained and tasteful, but on that one he allows himself to go full over-the-top Shakespearean ham, and I love it.
That’s the problem with Choose Your Own Adventure stories. If you set up foreshadowing or try to establish a narrative arc, you have to account for readers or viewers not picking up on it or going another way. No matter which ending you get, and I’ve seen all of them, there’s always a loose end that feels unfinished.
I went to Greg Lobanov’s Twitter after watching this video and was pleased to see that he had tweeted “YES???” Very wholesome content.
I still don’t understand why crunch is considered “necessary.” If you know your game is likely to require, say, 50% more person-hours than you initially project, then why not just plan to work over a longer period of time, rather than the same amount of time with 12-hour days? It’s not like it’s more expensive; it’s…
God bless this wholesome content.
Ok, Stephen... we gotta talk about these “brown beans.” What the heck are brown beans? Are they baked beans? Pinto beans? Just any old kind of beans that happen to be the color brown??

I think Furi is a good example of this: the slow, meditative walk you take after a fight serves partly as a story-building cutscene and partly as a chance to take a breather before the next crazy fight.
