Something is not "wrong" because it's illegal. Not even close.

Congrats! I am due in Feb. How do you manage the breast feeding and pain killers? I am trying for a natural child birth, but have a chronic pain condition. If there is a way to safely breast feed and occasionally do pain relief as needed, that would be amazing. Pumping?

But why is it wrong? Because you say so? Your argument is the definition of a naturalistic fallacy.

Fair point. I should have said "seafood". In terms of cultivation, they would be considered a "fish," coming from the sea, and not a farm. I'm not sure if that really changes my argument. I still have the same questions.

I dont' think all dolphins are endangered so you may get your chance!

Yeah, that was my point, Shmalice. The dolphins were wacked over their heads at the last moment of their lives, in the ocean. I'm just not getting how this is "worse" than anything other way of cultivating animal flesh for human consumption.

Question for meat/fish eaters: Why is eating dolphin so much worse than eating another type of fish, or a factory farmed animal? They are all bludgeoned, shocked, tortured, etc. It's not like what happened in "The Cove" is worse than how cows are slaughtered. The Japanese took issue with it because the meat was sold

They were all PR crises that somehow wove their way through the conscience of the American public due to things that were happening on a larger scale, politically and socially: The environment, animal rights, and food engineering/safety concerns.

This reminds of the backlash over their styrofoam containers in the 80s, the fries being fried in animal fat in the 90s, and the chicken nugget pink slime freakout of the 2000s. It's not about giving a shit about people or food. It's about managing the public's perception of their attitude towards people and food.

IVF and egg harvesting are NOT a guarantee. The are a last resort. The idea that you can make your biology irrelevant is just not based in fact. Most IVF procedures do NOT succeed, statistically, and require multiple attempts with multiple embryos. It's not an equal alternative to sexual reproduction. It's a last

I have no idea why you would eat fresh, cheap, organic fruit when you can buy a thick, white, chemically engineered substance for hundreds of dollars that provides the same nutrition (according to the white coats, anyway) !

"They're couching this as a women's issue when it's really just a way to keep women working for longer "

Strangely it is all working out. Life would have been FAR more complicated had I stayed with the jackass ex and gotten pregnant by him, only to find out he was cheating and had a secret family on the side. I guess I would have gotten child support, but honestly, I would rather do it on my own than put my child through

Your reply only bolsters my commitment to the sentiment expressed in my comment. I'm not seeing how having an advanced degree in Chemistry makes someone an expert on human behavior and sexuality, let alone on predicting it. I'm not even going to get into "married 3 times."

Or maybe, maaaaaybe, society will finally get it shits together and support working moms, offering them appropriate benefits so they don't have to delay their reproductive choices and go through crazy, expensive medical procedures to do something they can likely do naturally.

Have you frozen your eggs for yourself along the way?

Yeah, my mind is just reeling. I feel like he is likely someone who never has sex, so doesn't get that sex IS the mechanism for easy reproduction. It's like saying, "in the future, you can just get a nutrient IV so you never have to eat a meal again!" If you are fertile, just fuck and have a baby. No one is going

This is totally "Brave New World" territory. I would be concerned about this because the fetus needs to be sustained with synthetic hormones. This just seems like an awful idea all around.

THIS. I had this too, and it was the worst 10 minutes of my life. And I have a chronic pain condition. It basically simulates a contraction. So if this is what labor is like, I'm sure I will die from pain while giving birth. It was truly miserable.

Yeah, agree. If I was fertile (I'm now pregnant via IVF), I would just at least give natural conception a try. The question is, really, "Why wouldn't you conceive naturally?" It's quick, cheap, instant, painless. You can still do genetic testing and get pregnant naturally.
