I think it's because violent crime in general is heavily male weighted. So even equal stats can be suggestive.

I'm pretty sure any person with criminal intent isn't going to give a toss whether they are walking into the 'wrong' toilet. If a man wants to use a secluded public toilet to rape or sexually assault a woman they aren't going to be stopped by an icon of a stick person in a skirt!

It's a second comment but I've noticed is that these laws tend to largely be brought forth by men. There are some women, of course, but by and large it seems to be dudes who are obsessed with trans women being in women's washrooms (I have never heard one say anything about trans men in men's washrooms).

My therapist asked me just the other day, when she caught me just as I left the mens room after our appointment, when I was going to start using the women's room. (Keep in mind, this was likely the second time in 3 months I've used a public restroom. I try to avoid it when possible.)

Seriously folks- I don't care which bathroom you want to use. Just pee, wipe, wash your hands and leave.
