If I were to start a display ad network for cave wall paintings, would you hire TheRevanchist to run PastLifeHacker?

Now, *that* is cool. I'm not sure that I could handle Lifehacker at 28.8kbps, though. I can't read that fast.
"You have your own computer."
I actually had the exact same thing happen with an old laptop. One day it decided to mysteriously turn itself on in the middle of the night (with the lid closed) and continued doing that every night for years until I formatted its hard drive and gave it away. I never could figure out what was going on with it. It…
I had to do this too! And it really isn't obvious how to do it. You'd naturally assume that you'd be able to change it in mouse or power settings, not device manager. And you have to do it for every mouse you have.
Sure, that would work very well. You're not going to find a USB-only model that's as good as that one. Of course, you may not want to have a mic *and* a USB interface on your desk.
Everyone learns this the hard way. When I bought my first condenser mic, I skyped a friend with it, thinking he would be impressed. The first reference he made to the sound quality was, "What's wrong with your phone?" It didn't even occur to him that the sound was better in some ways because all he could hear was the…
Recording audio outdoors is hard for several reasons and isn't a problem that's easy to solve with equipment alone. First, the mic is almost always far from the audio source (most typically a person speaking) so the signal-to-noise ratio is poor. This is why in a movie shoot a boom operator holds a shotgun mic as…
The Yeti is a good microphone. I've had one and for most people, it's the best alternative to buying a mic *and* a USB interface, which is not only expensive but cumbersome. However, it's a condenser mic and in a house, it will pick up all sorts of ambient noise - your computer's fans, pipe noise, the air moving…
I used to back up my data on a second hard drive I had in my desktop just for that purpose, but then my computer literally CAUGHT ON FIRE. The disks survived, but I realized that I needed to keep my data in at least two different locations.
Instead of saying no, you may consider doing one of the following:
I'd like to add one more tip: if you suddenly make a lot of money, don't tell everybody! Friends will expect you to buy them beer, family members might ask you to help with payments, and people in the periphery of your life may suddenly be very interested in what you might be able to do for them. Not every favor…
It does! One of the cool unexpected benefits of our space program is that we've learned useful new lessons about how to prevent osteoporosis through resistive exercise. Originally, NASA was just looking to prevent astronauts from losing bone mass during extended stays in space. Then they developed something called…
Thanks for your thoughts.
Ah, too bad. It's hard to know which of these codes are targeted. Thanks!
Hi, Tim. I follow this stuff pretty closely and while I'm skeptical of some of the data, I wanted to point out a few items in Luker's defense.
