Apps on the iPad are generally larger then they are on the iPhone so the lack of memory will cause WORSE performance then on the 3GS.

What does it matter what size it is for making phone calls? Countless people NEVER put a cell phone to their head. They only use BT. Size would be a non issue for those people and that's still a fairly huge market.
