One might argue that “royalty” is just a made up concept that also applies to people who once did something relevant in the fame and money gathering field. Last I checked unlike the pope we are no longer pretending that royalty is ordained by God? So then it’s just a bunch of rich people who enjoy waving at less rich

I too must be a trained psychic because I saw this coming.

I can’t imagine how all those healing crystal workshops and all that mindfulness coaching aren’t satisfying women who want health care from their boutique healthcare provider. It’s crazy how being “bff’s” and texting doesn’t actually meet the fucking healthcare needs of ladies. Their glossy branding really rubbed me

I’m currently in Iceland and it’s pretty un-ruined. In general they’ve put a lot of effort into attracting tourists to boost their economy and were just under prepared for how successful they were. Turns out if you have a gorgeous country like Iceland and then offer dirt cheap airfare a shit ton of people will come.

Christ, if you want me to pay $150 up front for access to your care your offerings better not be 95% thoughts and prayers. If magic smoke could cure yeast infections we’d all be smuding our vaginas at home. We don’t need apps at that call us Peaches, we need access to good health care.

Lauren Graham is waaaaaaay too good for When Calls the Heart, that level of acting skill on a show where everyone else is Hallmark level acting would stand out badly.

Same!! They were my window into evangelical christian faith (we’re Jewish) and while it was fascinating and weirdly titillating, it was also repulsive. Nothing in my brain could get behind “surrender” as a way of interacting with the world.

Oh man I as a kid who spent a lot of time being dragged to various historical destinations the spinner rack with Janet Oke and other Christian historical novels were a ray of hope. I have such a soft spot for stories about 1870's Amish ladies torn between their faith and their passion, or WWI nurses who fall for their

Dude’s had a pretty rough year, maybe he isn’t on his A game.

His recent sit down with Russell Howard was a raw, honest and brutal look at life with grief. I honestly think is just a weird quote that would have come off well with visual cues.

I really didn’t feel like he was saying anything Carrie wouldn’t have admitted herself? If you’re not familiar with his work, he’s recently written and spoken eloquently about life with grief after nursing his young son through terminal cancer. He is also darkly wonderfully funny.

In comics at least; Rocket and Chewie (Carol’s Flerken is called Chewie in the comics) don’t get along. Rocket like all sensible non-Carol meatbags are deeply uncomfortable around Flerkens. Basically take any dialogue in the movies about Flerkens and imagine it in Rocket’s voice because he said it first in the comics.

The problem with that attitude is that the residents who don’t have the means to pick up and move get left without access to any services, that’s usually elderly, the poor, the disabled and the young. The households most affected by “giving up on a city” are the ones that have a mix of those elements. It’s easy enough

Yeah it doesn’t matter how clean the water is going in to the lead pipes....

The problem is the people who were poisoned have nowhere to go, and it’s easier and better to treat their long term issues in their community.

I agree with that, but I also think Michigan owes it to the people of flint to create safe infrastructure. The kids most affected by the high levels of lead may never be able to leave that community nor should they have to.

The difference (I think, but am not positive) is that Love Canal was a disaster that could not be safely re-mediated at the time. Flint could have safe clean drinking water if the plumbing were replaced. The solution is expensive but readily available.

Possibly but that’s about the worst precedent to set ever.

If anything their performance at the Oscars made me think they weren’t naked dancing in their off time. No one trying to keep anything on the downlow is going to be that obvious right? They’re both clearly committed to the work but I’d be shocked if they hang out together off screen.

I liked the comics well enough but didn’t adore them, I did find their wackiness to be the most endearing bit though. The show has really dialed it back and I do think it’s detrimental. My partner who hasn’t read the comics is definitely enjoying it more than I am.
