Really annoyed that I just moved from a state that was realid compliant to one that is not.

My criteria is typically time (is it convenient, and donthey fly direct to where I’m going), then price, then not united (they rarely meet the first two anyways). But yeah, the biggest problem with flying is that too many people are willing to book the cheapest available flight without realizing it takes 8 hours

I live on the west coast and have flown Hawaiian internationally as well as to Hawaii. Sure they have a little different business model, but they're in the top 9 or whatever that number was largest in the US. They really do have some of the best customer service (for mainland and international flights) when compared

Call me crazy, but I think the thinner seats are more comfortable than the old fashioned 4 inches of foam.

The only thing worse than American is United. How did they rank so high?

Four in the afternoon for starting a redeye is rough. Most of the ones I’ve been on take off between 8:30-12:00. For those, I’d wake up early and try get a serious workout or hour+ run in after work to really let exhaustion set in.

Kids... kids change things. The most fun is when the 18 month old sleeps in your lap the whole way keeping you awake so that they're completely rested and you're completely wiped by the time you land.

I appreciate the tip on how to do it. I still just don’t understand why you’d want to.

Definitely feels like a kiss ass move, but it can pay off later if you apply for another job with the same employer. Find a way to be personable, make a little small talk and make a connection. I’ve found an ideal time for this is later in the interview if they ask if you have any questions. Ask something technical or

Nice to see things haven't changed in Lubbock  in the last decade.

Am I the only one here who has never heard of Dukes?

Haven’t tried it with mayo, but one trick that might help: put the whole cloves in vinegar then blend. That gives all the garlic flavor without the pungency raw garlic can get when chopped while exposed to air. Roasting the garlic or cooking it in the oil you plan to use could also work.

I thought the stuff I found in the states tasted a little different. Now it makes sense.

Newer nuclear technology is pretty hard to beat, but we can’t get plants with new technology built due to fear and ignorance.

Good call. I read a lot of Asterix when I was staying with a host family in Germany.

Train station ramen! The station in Kyoto has a floor that’s nothing but ramen shops. It has 8-10 shops with different styles from all over the country.

This. Keep it simple. There’s no need to try to memorize a phrase that you’ll probably get wrong in the moment of you don't speak the language.

Duroc is a breed of pig (think “angus” beef, it’s not any different/better, but they have good marketing). Chashu is pork typically roasted or braised with soy, ginger, and garlic.

Slurp it. Slurp it while it's hot. If you wait for it to cool, you're holding up the line.
