Pretty sure people do read this stuff, otherwise there are cheaper and more efficient means of watching people have sex.

One of my best friends in college was suuuuuuper in to this stuff and she most definitely read all the dialogue and went crazy with unlocking all the paths. If you did skip all the story why not just watch porn? That was always my thinking towards these kind of games anyway though.
