If you hate (I assume you meant hate) Windows 8 so much that you got a Mac, you didn't give it a chance. There were really a few minor UI changes that were easy to work around, but past that it was just a better version of Windows 7 (especially with the improvements in 8.1).

Apple copied the idea from Googles NFC payment method used on Android phones like the Galaxy Nexus I had in Dec. 2011. Just saying. Next they are going to copy Android Wear and get into the smart watch market. Sad really that Apple just waits and watches to see what Google/Android is doing and copies it these days.

How is this news? I think I saw this on Bill Nye, as well as several other sources (not the exact same video, but a different video showing the exact same result).

There really should be some sort of concrete design and prototype submitted with a patent. Apple is just being a patent troll by patenting virtually any method conceptually plausible even without any mechanism to make it happen so they can sue anyone who eventually figures it out.
