I immediately believe that this game’s main appeal is the sugar-coating and not the advanced mechanics. To me, that’s already enough but I can imagine that some people expected more. Perhaps you’re just not the target audience?

Perhaps it’s also more accessible to first-person noobs? (like me...) It seems perfectly fun, even if it lacks the depth of some other hardcore shooters.

Yup, that’s what I get from hordes of people staring brainlessly at what the mass entertainment industry is feeding them.... Doesn’t mean I’m sad though. This fact in itself is entertaining, admittedly in a cynical kind of way.
