The main reason I’m still watching this show is because I want to know where that goes (and I kind of hope it means that we’re actually going to see a thoughtful trans coming of age story). I appreciate what the show’s doing in terms of storytelling and talking about sexuality, but the humor’s been miss-or-miss for

Wait, has the critical consensus shifted that hard on Birdman? I agree that it got a little bit too much love when it came out, but it’s still got great performances and a really distinct nervous sort of tone from the jazz drum score and continual shots. It’s definitely a film that thinks it’s more important than it

That episode is probably my favorite except for when they killed the cat. It was just so telegraphed from the moment that cat showed up on screen, so not only was it a bummer, it was also just not very funny or surprising.

I’ve been a little down on Vernon Chatman since I learned that he had a story by on Louis CK’s “I Love You, Daddy”, but this looks exciting. However, one slight correction: Xavier is packed with comedy all the way to the gills. It’s definitely deliberately offputting and offensive, but the jokecraft is A+

Hypothetically good, but almost always bad in practice? Like I’m open to the idea people like Aziz Ansari have a valuable perspective to share, but I’m not optimistic that him or Louis CK or Garrison Keillor or pick your public name is actually going to take any responsibility for what they’ve done.

So almost every comment here is a brave stand for Ansari? It seems like more people are coming out swinging to defend Ansari’s conduct as not rape than there are people who are actually accusing him of rape. It’s almost like the idea that he’s been tarred and feathered with a rape accusation is an exaggerated strawman

Honestly, that Robot Chicken video has a fun basic concept that would be 10x more tolerable if it wasn’t taken in the most obnoxious general direction possible. I was holding on for a little bit since it’s only a 2 minute clip but by the time the Pinko brick was yelling at Buzz for assuming their gender around the

Yeah, even though season 3 was only 13 episodes it felt longer and harder to remember what was going on. I wonder if some of that is compressing the story from what would have been a longer episode order. I can’t really remember much beyond Trent going out in a blaze of glory/doing the season 2 theme.

That theory is so believable it’s eerie.

I’m just here to sing the praises of Artemis Pebdani, who always puts in 500% but somehow has only had a main cast role on Son of Zorn, which I’m pretty sure precisely 7 people watched. Hopefully one day someone’s insane enough to give her more.

“Keepin’ The Faith” is my favorite De La track, though it hasn’t aged as well since I played it in the time in college. You can’t really go wrong with them in general.

I’m sorry Chloe, but I saw it. To be fair, I now agree with you 100%, since it’s the most inexplicable movie I’ve ever seen.

It’s also a pretty complex situation - for example, most people I bring up the allegations to think I’m talking about Soon-yi, which is also a weird situation but a lot easier to brush off as “who am I to intrude in someone else’s private life?” Woody Allen kicked up a lot of dust when the initial allegations happened

I think Boots Riley makes a good point that what we do know is troubling enough. We do know for a fact that Ron Stallworth and other black cops have worked undercover trying to infiltrate black political groups. It’s also fishy that the files were destroyed, so basically everything we have is anecdotal evidence from

I like the movie a lot, but Boots does a good job of crystallizing why certain parts haven’t really sat with me in the right way. The reality is that law enforcement has in general always been more concerned about black radical politics than white domestic terrorism. The way the movie chooses to fictionalize the facts

I’m excited to see where this show goes. There’s a lot of potential here in terms of talent and concept that the sky’s the limit for where this can go. And if it ends up just being fantasy drag Futurama, well that’s not so bad since it doesn’t seem like this show is gonna push the 90's standup style sexism accelerator

As the only person with fond, fond memories of Star Wipe, this hurts even more. Hopefully we’ll meet again on the set of Dan In Real Life 3.

Michelle Wolf’s Netflix show is so weird. I like her comedy but the whole Daily Show-ish formula feels really awkward with her.

How can you skip over all the hilarious self-deprecating jokes about how broke Violent J is? That’s like the best part of the video, seeing his daughter deliver sick burns from inside a furry suit.

Empire Burlesque is my pick for the best bad Dylan album. It’s actually universally agreed to be a pretty decent album, but the most 80's production of all time combined with a lack of enduring songs means that nobody talks about it ever. But I kind of love it as kind of strange MOR extension of the Dylan from Planet
