I’ll respond to you mostly for your first sentence and in advance note that this is a long reply that makes this seems super-serious and it certainly isn’t. It is mostly just a conglomeration of thoughts and not entirely directed back towards you. So, sorry in advance.

Counterpoint: I am not an F1 fan, but if I apply this broadly to all sports I disagree. Social media is a scourge for intelligent thought but a boon for the 24-hour sports ‘news’ cycle. I thought I would miss ESPN when I ditched cable years ago but when I catch it now, I realize I spared myself a load of nonsense.

I love the SHO. I had a beater 92 at one point, but 89-91 is the gen to have. The engine has a great sound and period power.

Back in my day!

This is what gets me. Most people will be financing these gifts. So you’re making a decision for the household finances with only one party’s input. Seems like a terrible gift.

Since Alexis Texas is a real porn star name, then...yes?

I could only think about this scene because you brought up rattle cans.

Ah, I somehow completely skimmed over the fact that it was a wagon.

Are you sure it wasn’t an SHO? No new MT-5s after 88. SHO in 91 was still manual only with a nice 220hp screaming Yamaha V6. Actually would have been a nice pick for a young kid with an influx of cash.

Yup, 86-87 only for the MT-5 wagon (not sure how that meshes with the story of ordering one new in 91 above, maybe it was used?).

My first car was a 93 Ford Taurus, as such I learned more than anyone ever really needs to know about the line. I used to know exterior colors and available interior colors for each color by model year largely because the one I had was green/black which had to be ordered as only grey/beige/green were the suggested

Well it would be within spitting distance of either Pennsylvania or West Virginia or possibly both. So I guess that’s why it's a damn Northwest Maryland.

Government needs to step in to help rich people charge their cars? I mean, I get that our federal government already exists to massively help the rich, but I'm just surprised to see this offered as a seemingly honest suggestion.

Why don't I understand what is happening in this article?

The first engine lasted only somewhere in the range of 15-20% of my expectation for a modern (as in post-1990) build and the replace/rebuild cost was likely 5-6x what any current major manufacturer would cost (these are still largely serviced through Ferrari dealers, right?)

A ‘might makes right' kinda guy.  Brilliant argument.

How quickly we forget... or maybe just never knew to begin with...

Movie producer suit talking to car sourcing guy about vehicle choices.

Yep, well put.
