I recently just binged The Matrix trilogy and was surprised that it held up better than I expected considering the oversaturation of the film techniques and the icky legacy of the film brought by red pills. I didn’t notice how diverse the casting was when I was younger; it was definitely worth a revisit, though it

Overpopulation isn’t the problem, inequality in resource distribution is the problem.

I reach a point where I just refer to certain sci-fi films as speculative fiction, Truman Show is one of those.

Somehow I lived through the 90s without ever seeing Total Recall until a few months ago. DAMN, it was REALLY GOOD.

It’s one of the sci-fi films from the last decade that I can’t get out of my head. Ex Machina and Moon are two sleepers that have just stuck with me.

This was almost four years ago, but thank you for the belated congratulations!

The library pays for access to these resources, so it might be “free” for users (beyond tax dollars) but it is paid for. Library digital access is a way for people to support media, even if they don’t have the funds to pay for a subscription on their own.

I’m mystified by those who have deeply internalized the marketing messages from jewelry companies. I know (smart, progressive, feminist, liberal) women who placed certain amounts of important on their rings or who really wanted that romcom engagement moment. I just don’t understand the materialism over the gesture. I

This is why I would say it’s the gesture. My mom got a diamond for her ring for their 20th anniversary and it was a symbol of how far they’d come and all they’d been through together.

What a great movie. I learned about it from a comment section when I was looking for some 80s scif-fi.

I definitely recommend The One I Love to those who just watched Us.

Don’t be dumb.

As a fellow weird girl, I was always disappointed by the low effort bullying I received. Try harder, mean girls!

What?! Are you saying women have to somehow exist in a world of systems founded on misogyny?! I’M SHOCKED!

Teens can’t learn if we keep brushing their grosser mistakes away with “boys will be boys” and never ask them to face consequences for their actions.

Let’s just be honest, the only reason any of us liked Joe Biden was because of the Onion.

Ooh, what a hard choice! Art deco was particularly in when I was getting engaged, I don’t know what I would have chosen. My grandmother was a midcentury modern, so I’m happy to have her rings. Very classic.

I disappointed people all through the engagement process because we had no story and for most of the engagement no ring to show until my grandmother sent me hers. People at work kept congratulating me when the rumor mill started spreading that I was engaged and I would be like, “for what” — thinking something exciting

I had a friend who proposed to her boyfriend by buying him an engraved xbox. I think the wedding industrial complex would do anything to increase sales, so engagement rings for men are probably a thing.

Inherited rings are the best! I’m so surprised that people are so into the ring buying process. My husband and I have never made enough money that I would ever encourage him to spend his money on a piece of jewelry for me. Like, he has a lot of student loan debt. I would truly swoon if he somehow managed to pay a
