I think that was my biggest disappointment with the movie. I thought Kylo and Rey were about to walk away together and put an actual complication into the plot, but then the movie tossed away all the grey and subversion it set up, placing everyone back in their good/bad, dark/light story trope positions.

Well there is the book A is for Activist!

We avoid the toll roads and just clench our butts on scary one-lane mountain roads. Those tolls are killer.

We honestly just drove around at random and loved every bit of it. There are some seriously scary mountain roads (one lane, two way with no guardrail), so stay on the main highway if you’re not a confident driver.

Give AAA $30 and a passport photo, they give you a box of cereal with an international driver’s license inside!

That should be temple not shrine.

The 88 Shrine Pilgrimage is most popular. If you like nature it’s got all the nature. I really enjoyed Naruto, the whirlpools are neat and there is a small museum about a German POW camp that used to be there. Shikoku is famous for udon. Also in Matsuyama you can visit Dogo Onsen, which was the inspiration for the

I’m thinking about switching my toiletry shopping to prime, just to keep my food budget seperate.

It’s honestly the no legumes rule that keeps me away from Whole 30. My husband and are broke, but we don’t like to eat cheap meat—we prefer meat from local or regional farms vs Purdue. We can’t afford that fancy meat often, so we base a lot of our meals around beans. You can take my legumes from my cold dead hands.

My husband and I spent our spring vacation in Japan sleeping in our Mazda Demio with a futon tossed over the back seats at michi no eki (rest areas) all through Honshu and Shikoku. At the end of this week we’re traveling to Hokkaido and picking up a campervan. There is a great app for locating michi no eki called RS

And if they did it seems like they would go with hiring someone from Condé Nast to promote them instead of some unknown with a smartphone.

My old band played a huge show years ago at a big art event that charged an entry fee. They promised they would provide exposure in lieu of payment then on live TV and in every press release about the show referred to us as a Bluegrass band—which we definitely weren’t, we were pretty clearly a rock band with electric

Honestly it seems like influencers would make things worse for actual professionals because of these requests. They’re trying to get a free stay on their vacation in exchange for photos. So how many hotels/businesses will choose to hire influencers in exchange for free stuff instead of paying them for their time? I

My husband and I find ourselves referencing this sketch too often lately.

I love the cast SO much but the plot and writing of TLJ makes me so angry and I somehow forgot about Poe’s storyline.

I hate the family drama that Facebook brews. I have an aunt who gets upset because no one can post directly to my wall. She gets mad if I don’t like the millions of memes she tags me in. I have racist inlaws who added me when I got married (they didn’t even come to the wedding and I’ve never met most of them) but I

I just rewatched Say Anything and it honestly held up for me. Lloyd Dobler’s behavior was pretty in the background and Diane’ storyline became really centered while she was unpacking the situation with her dad. But man, speaking of Crowe, Almost Famous was my favorite film all through high school and college and I

This week Bevin referred to public school teachers as ignorant thugs, so I wouldn’t look to him for any guidance.

The plan is the end of the world and salvation, so suffering and persecution on earth is part of being a Christian. Bad things just reinforce their beliefs.

Mudbound was legit and would have had more noms had it been released in a traditional way.
