Considering that this review is probably one of the most positive out there for this show, that’s pretty doubtful.

I also really liked the book but my big complaint was the end. Throughout the book there’s this big dark secret or event hinted at which, I guess, is supposed to create suspense and carry the plot along and in the end, from what I remember, it’s a series of miscarriages? I understand I risk sounding insensitive here…
Each episode (nine in total for season 4) is reported to be over an hour long, with suggestions from the Duffer Bros et al that some would be around 90 minutes. That is, essentially, around a 10 - 12 hour movie at least. That is much more that Suicide Squad 2 and Peacemaker’s runtimes all added up. By hours. That…
I mean, Barry is HBO and it’s been 3 years since the last season came out.
Did they not have a little thing called Covid-19 from where you’re from?
Doesn’t look low budget at all? And the effects fit that Scott Pilgrim aesthetic.
The powers swap is almost certainly because of $$$. The time/cost for special effects to make a convincing, non-uncanny valley-ish on screen version of Kamala’s comic powers is significantly higher than doing what they seem to be doing here. I doubt it has all that much to do with Fantastic Four or anything else…
Funny, I looked at each of the shows you mentioned with a sense of wonder and fun. I also look forward to seeing them, ill-fitting rubber suits and CW effects even.
A ton of reasons really
Potentially, sure! That’s been the dream of a la carte enthusiasts for like 40 years; while it would cost more to subscribe to everything, most people don’t want or need to so they end up not having to pay for all that chaff like you do with cable.
as not-Muslim-but-still-brown guy who grew up in the 80's/90's, i was joking-but-not-really-joking the other day that it will be nice to have the Russians as the bad guys again.
I’ll attribute it to the lack of Muslim leads in general, but the idea that we’ll have a Muslim main character shown praying who isn’t a terrorist feels like a breath of fresh air.
Also, I don’t know what percentage, but I can absolutely guarantee you some of the film was shot in Chicago. Not just because I recognize some of it, but because when I am out walking the dog and I see a film crew, I always ask what they are shooting and twice the answer was “The Batman.”
Worth mentioning that Gotham has been inspired by Chicago almost as much as it was inspired by NYC. The organized crime stuff, like the big mob bosses, are closer to the Chicago kind. Also the gothic architecture, the alleyways, and some of the fashion, although that’s not as present in this movie because it’s…
You want to know just how badly it was marketed when it came out? The only place I saw this show getting any substantial marketing was on Tumblr. Post-porn-ban-exodus Tumblr to boot. And by “substantial” I mean they FLOODED Tumblr with repetitive, obnoxious ads for weeks, to the point that people loathed the show…
The biggest problem that The Batman had was, well, obvious.
With the most recent Spiderman and Batman movies we’re just now getting back to where new releases are cultural events, and even being safely produced in the first place. People like to have some connection to the films that are nominated, otherwise it’s just plain old curiosity that can be fulfilled looking at your…
I would bet the deed to my house that they will be unedited. D has already said that they will prompt users to update their parental controls before they try to watch one of the Marvel Netflix shows for the first time.
They are implementing parental control options the same week that the defenders shows are coming out, so I’d hope they don’t censor them. Maybe a censored version that is parental control friendly, and the original for everyone else?
I wish The Flash hadn’t burned through all its goodwill at this point, because Donald Faison as Booster Gold sounds amazing.
