It was incredibly inappropriate for Turnbull to be ranting in the House that Joyce’s was entitled to sit and the High Court would find that. It’s not for the Prime Minister of Australia to say what the highest court in the country will and will not do.

He might not be able to replace them. Staying in Trump Tower on a long-standing lease is one thing; it’s not going to attract a lot of attention or be interpreted as political. Some people will boycott that particular location, but it’s not going to hurt your brand very much.

There’s no better way to expose mendacious arguments than to ask people to explain them. Ask a sensible question (like “what rights were those, specifically?”) and wait. With a look of expectant interest. Keep your voice and face absolutely snark-free.

I personally think the best solution would be an amnesty. Let the two Greens senators back in, and have a period of time where every single elected representative goes through their family tree with a fine tooth comb and renounces any dual citizenship they unearth.
