I’m from Philly and I heard the quality of Wawa hoagies went way down over the last few years, apparently there was a noticeable switch to cheaper ingredients. I used to love Wawa hoaiges, haven’t had one since I saw my friends bashing the changes online.

It’s not an excuse but didn’t his aunt allege that her father and brother (his father) raped her, in her book? I went down a rabbithole on this family awhile ago because I think their kind of origin story is fascinating: beginning with a Jewish socialist doctor (Julius) who was convicted for illegal abortion, whose com

Yes! I liked ITYSL but it was definitely missing Sam. Tim yells a lot, he needs chill  Sam to take it down a notch. Detroiters was such a perfect show, why can’t someone just pay them to do that again?

Y’alls reaction to this Ellie Kemper story (and the commentariat outrage about it that has spilled over into so many other articles) reminds me of my time waiting tables in DC. When I was working in restaurants & bars, there was this funny, constant and well-known phenomena that a manager pointed out to me early on

No. This news is perfectly calibrated to annoy me. My only comment on the Scott Pilgrim movie for years was that it was a lot of fun but I thought their one big error was the casting of Envy Adams. I thought whoever they cast was utterly forgettable and had no charisma, they really needed someone with presence, but

Don’t drag Nathan Rabin into your tired, right wing crap. I miss his columns too but guess what? He also cares about social justice. His writing for this site was in a different political era, an era which you clearly miss but one that is not coming back.

LOVED the last season but I think it really helped that I had extremely strong goodwill towards the lead actresses, thanks to other projects. I loved Margie in Big Love, Lucy Liu in everything but especially the Charlie’s Angels reboots when I was younger and Kirby Howell-Baptiste in the Good Place. I was sad to hear

because they (I think it’s safe to say) do not think of Sandman’s Death as a white person”

Such an interesting comment to me, “I’d still prefer a white Death” with no reflection whatsoever. And it’s got stars. Not surprised that is popular sentiment around here. You may feel like you’re stating a harmless preference, but our preferences are inevitably influenced by our society’s long history of white

Same! Disappointed.

I don’t agree with this hot take but I kind of admire it. Or maybe I just miss Santa Clarita Diet.

Living Single/ Friends.

I would have no problem with developing separate shows for African American and Native American characters (though diverse representation makes more sense IMO), my problem is that Outlander left Scotland (where it made sense not to deal with these stories) and went to the Caribbean and South Carolina - both areas that

Yeah I thought Amber’s attitude towards their relationship was inconsistent and nutty, you’re not alone.

I don’t know if it was intentional or not but making Debbie Asian meant that we get a scene where a white-passing husband says he loves his Asian wife like a pet - and that struck me as really heavy (but perhaps my perception is colored by current events and families I knew growing up).

My husband and I compared it to the Primal season 1 finale, just for over the top bloodbath levels.

Yeah 30 Rock is easily one of my favorite shows but I cannot forgive the way he talked to his child. No little girl should have her Daddy screaming about what a “pig” she is and then have that replayed in the news. So horrifying. What a fucking asshole. I just get mad whenever I think about it.

I liked the first season OK. There were some truly brilliant moments. I wanted to like it a lot but I felt like it fell into that SNL thing where they keep bringing the same characters back to diminishing returns. Maybe it’s a problem with all sketch shows? Hard to keep the characters fresh?

With a twist of Lovecraft Country thrown in. Surprised they called the period setting “distinct”.

Ha! That’s really fair, well played.
