Disregarding the occasional blunder or troll, the general consensus around here seems to be that it's not ok to objectify people, be it straight women, be it gay men, be it any other sexual orientation or identity. Your initial comment makes it sound like there are constant comments of prospect fag-hags demanding gay

So, wait: straight women can't be targets of misogyny now, specially if said misogyny is coming from other discriminated groups. Or perhaps they can be... they just have to stfu about it.

Whatever your identity is, it's secondary to the point at hand. The point here, is the eagerness to maneuver an article reporting misogynistic attitudes in a given culture, in to "no, no, no, no, no; let's focus on what women are doing wrong".

Yeah, let's talk about those bad, stupid, silly womenz instead (that the article actually mentioned, btw). Holy derail! AND a good example of the article's point, curiously.

I'm disagreeing with you. When people use the same sexist tactics against women as out - and - open virulent sexists, the problem is not women responding to their sexism.
It's that they refuse to admit that they're sexist.

DERAIL TRAIN INCOMING!

Go fuck myself? Yeah, you're a concern troll. Nice job, fooling a bunch of twentysomethings who are easy to troll. But still bullshit.

Absolutely! But why does asking a gay man to examine how parts of their society divorce themselves from half of society that has a similar and related history of oppression from the patriarchy turn into "but they do bad things to us too!"

yeah, but, what do you have to say about gay men and their misogyny towards women?

Clearly, you are meeting the wrong straight women to be friends with, and you have the ability to say no, and ask them not to do that, just as the woman in the story tried to explain why the guy shouldn't slap her ass. Bad behavior from a straight woman does not justify misogyny towards them or other women.

exactly!

This is misogynistic as well. You've taken an article about the problems of women and you've tacked on, "but what about the poor menz"?
What you say is true, but this is not the place or that discussion.
Thank you for proving the bloggers point.
