I think The Night Of is SO better than Criminal Justice. I only watched 1 1/2 episodes of the British show, I found it so unrealistic. I'll bet the lack of discussion of blood spatter evidence can be blamed on the British show. Their jail was so clean it looked liked a hospital. Not at all realistic.
The British series, Criminal Justice, that The Night Of is based on, had 2 seasons with totally different characters.
I think Naz will be acquitted because The State hasn't proven his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. There are too many other possible suspects - the step dad, Dwayne Reade, Mr. Day (the mortician). I don't think we will ever know the real killer. And Naz will come out irrevocably hardened.
