These companies just go ahead and add restaurants to their service without the permission, or knowledge, of the restaurant. The restaurant owner in this story didn’t even know her restaurant was listed on Seamless until an irate customer called looking for their order.

I think I’m missing something. It sounds like the delivery apps have been accepting delivery requests from customers, then placing those orders with the restaurants. So, instead of customers picking up orders, the delivery apps are, but that the restaurants’ services haven’t been forced.

Honest question here. What’s wrong with actual cab drivers? They’re licensed and bonded. Any random asshole with a late model car can be a Lyft/Uber driver with very little vetting.
