Aunt Jemima, Sambo, Buckwheat, and Uncle Ben aren’t slurs either, but you still wouldn’t say them to a black person’s face, would you?

After Larry Holmes? Really? I did not know that. I thought “Holmes” was just a variation of "homeboy".

I'm not getting what Andre Cymone has to do with Italian accents. What am I missing here?

Kids got out in the streets and fought the cops in 1968. The 70s started with the Weather Underground blowing up buildings and ended with punk. Gen X had aggressive, political music like hardcore in the 80s, and Public Enemy and RATM in the 90s.

I don’t care what that agent says: Toronto pizza is awful.

That name just kills me because she is neither serene nor joyful.

What about that very looooong side eye he gave her? Oh, I think he is very suspicious of June.

Instead of just walking away, when June sat down on the bed beside Eleanor, I thought for a second that she might smother Eleanor with a pillow to make sure she died.

Aside from that time when Eleanor had her husband at gunpoint, there was that other time when June took her for a walk to the school hoping for a glimpse at Hannah, but June had to bring Eleanor back home when she became manic and demanded to see the children.

I just watched the trailer, posted above by Rob Grizzly, and I don’t think I saw a single person of color among those being hunted, so I would cancel this film on those grounds alone because . . . bullshit.

Apparently the mnemonic PRAISE ME is used to characterize histrionic personality disorder. Yup, sounds like Trump alright:

Hurd is also just one of two black Republican members of Congress, the other being South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.

When there is a dearth of trained black hairstylists on TV/movie sets and in the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Guild, black actors are left to their own devices. They’re probably also on the hook at their own expense for those wigs.

I’m starting to wonder how much creative control Moss has over the show–the singular focus on her is starting to look like actor’s ego rather than simply bad writing.

Actually, Kate Bush wrote the song in the voice of Peter Reich, son of Wilhelm Reich, as his father is being arrested by the authorities for his controversial experiments:

How old is Blanca, do we think, that she would have seen Perfect Strangers growing up?

Asking management to speak to a particularly loud table is probably the best way to go about it.

I would be very interested in knowing how her “really good friends that are black” feel about this, and whether or not they’re still “really good friends.”

(Hugs and kisses to all our Lasties, Callies, and Carsonomicists out there in the audience!)
