Now if we could only get 81 million people to vote in democratic elections every year. :(

Hello, readers. You may have noticed that recently I haven’t been writing about comics for io9. That’s because I’m

I have that issue with Edgar Wright movies in general. Last week someone posted a video of scenes from the Cornetto Trilogy and it made me realize I don’t watch those enough. Scott Pilgrim is also like a fine wine, it gets better with age. I watched it recently and it was more funny now than the first time I saw it.

What makes it work for me is the fact the censoring is part of the world. Scott is well aware of the black bars and bleeps/distortions while she’s talking. If they just did it straight with the swearing bleeped out I don’t think it would have worked as well.

At least you’ll still get to see Captain America in it.

Now playing

Because they didn’t censor it. Bleeping and covering something up is always better as a joke than not doing so.

Yeah, agreed. Way funnier that way

It still upsets me a little that the movie didn’t actually have the “censoring” there. I thought that made the entire situation more hilarious.

That joke’s better in the trailer then in the movie.

The Lando System?

I’m sure that I saw Punisher War Zone when it first came out, but cannot remember anything about it.

That sums it up perfectly for me. The same show that was gothic horror last week might be a treasure hunt through space this week. And it will never make everyone happy. Go back and look at letters submitted to the Doctor Who magazine in the late 60s, early 70s, and they might as well be complaining about Moffat or

I have loved them all. Every single one of them.

Well, that’s your choice, to decline to watch it and see if it fits your negative expectations. Perhaps you will prefer Chris Chibnall.

Which means, in all fairness, you’re not understanding what Peter Capaldi just said.

So thrilled by the idea that Doctor Who’s youngest fans have grown up to recreate it. You see the glee and reverence  Capaldi and Tennant both have in playing their childhood heroes. They”Get it.” Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith have been wonderful too, and I treasure their work every bit as much, but they had to

There are some moments when you feel, that’s a little bit silly, or that’s a bit mawkish or whatever, but then you realise, that’s for children. You would be a fool not to play to them, because it’s their show.

if you don’t want to be compared to Hitler, don’t say the things Hitler said and don’t promise the things Hitler promised. Don’t demonize everyone who doesn’t fit the pure Aryan mold. Don’t put alt-right sympathizer in positions of power.

I think it is worth noting that Donald Trump is almost certainly not the next Hitler and that I generally find comparisons between Nazism, the Holocaust, and contemporary people and events highly distasteful and disrespectful of all those who lost their lives. There are exceptions of course. It is appropriate to

My interest in this series just shot up exponentially. I wasn’t sure an ongoing story would be worthwhile, but at least it will be though provoking if CJA is part of the creative process.
