I haven’t seen the movie, but your comment raises a question in my mind: Is this Batman what you would expect if the child Bruce Wayne in Gotham actually grew up into that character? In other words, is Gotham actually the precursor to the Zack Snyder Batman?

I realize it’s longer ago than 10 years, but I still have to put in a bad word about the stinker adaption of “A Wrinkle in Time.” It’s one of the earliest books I remember reading, and I still reread it every few years (let’s say I’m well out of the YA age group). I still think it’s one of the great books, not just

I actually agree that our personalities — or minds, or souls, if you prefer — are lodged in our physical makeup in some manner that we have not yet been able to understand fully.

Monty Python, is that you?

I believe there’s a good bit of doubt about the extent of the change to Gage’s personality, as well as how long-lasting it was. I read some time ago that Gage lived a long life (for that era) post-accident, that he managed to earn a living and that the violent personality changes he allegedly exhibited in the

Me too!

In fact, I think there’s an argument to be made that Capaldi’s Doctor is much more reminiscent of McCoy’s now than Hartnell’s, and not just because they’re both Scots. McCoy was the mysterious Doctor with an unrevealed agenda, and there’s definitely a flavor of that in Capaldi’s portrayal, IMHO.

Won’t fight with you about Clara. I think Jenna Coleman had promise as an actress, but the character was so inconsistently written that it was very hard for me to connect with her.

Just watched that story for the first time recently (US viewer who didn’t have access to the McCoy stories at the time they were first broadcast). I got a kick out of it, but I think I would have either loved or hated it if I had been a UK viewer instead.

It was kind-of done in the switchover from #5 (Davison) to #6 (C. Baker) in the classic era. The last story of that series was “The Twin Dilemma,” which took place after the regeneration. The Doctor was semi-psychotic as a result for at least 3/4 of the story.

Rob’s Gotham recaps filled the hole left when True Blood concluded and, with it, Meredith’s glorious recaps. I didn’t/don’t watch either show, but I treasured the recaps. Now, my life is just a little emptier.

You’re right. And now I’m depressed.

Not to mention the fact that there are several legitimate laughs in the trailer. Could they be the only ones in the movie? Sure! Will they be? Who knows! Let’s wait and see the movie before damning it.

My perspective, as someone who never read the Iron Fist comics, is this: the problem you seem to be having with the casting is that a character you think should be played by an Asian actor is, instead, being played by a Caucasian actor. Let’s set aside, for a second, the issue of the comics character’s race; let’s

Another marvelous, Bizarro review from the merciless goddess CJA! I’m not sure I can say it’s on a par with your review of Transformers: Dark of the Moon; that was an incomparable feat. But close!

My favorite line in the movie: “And that’s why Regina rhymes ... with fun!”

I am figuratively on line for that movie, RIGHT NOW!

I can definitely see that too. She’s portrayed as a hooker, at least in her first scene, so there is room in her characterization for a more broad-minded character than just the one-man girlfriend. Frankly, if you are going to make these R-rated movies, it would be nice to use that rating for something other than

Slightly o/t to your comment, but Vox just put up a piece about how Deadpool could not have been made — at least not the movie that we just saw — if the character was controlled by Marvel rather than Fox. I think that’s correct, though not quite for the reason that the Vox post said. The MCU has a years-long master

“Jerfishrael”.
