I ended up putting 20,000+ miles on the truck before the engine blew up the day before my wedding. They said a rebuild would be 5,000, so I said fuck it and sold it to a scrapyard. Bought a focus, traded it after 18 months for a GTI, haven't looked back.

About six years ago; I had just gotten my license and was about to get a 2000 dakota sport v8, which I disliked but it was quick and cheap to fix. The guy was asking 3600 but said he'd take 3350 for the 190E. I had 2350. :(

Seriously. I used one once (didn't know better), and it damn near ruined my truck. Never again.

I nearly bought a 190E 2.3 for my first car; grey, 88,000 miles, and I was 1,000 dollars short. Got my dad to loan me the cash after much discussion (3 days), only to find out it had sold the day before. I was heartbroken.
