So, prematurely switched to winters because I didn’t bother reading the forecast - plus side, I can now break traction in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, aaaand 5th gear at any speed! Haven’t tried it in 6th, but whatever.
New tags! Put the bumpers back on, but don’t have the fender clips yet. Apparently they’re backordered. Next up, horn, front turns, and e-brake cables to get it legal...then start building, paint new hatch to replace rusty one, brakes...gah. So much to do!
Just managed to offload some wheels, and pick up a new 4-piston wilwood kit for the Rabbit!
Project rabbit, which has been asleep for about six months, is finally back on the road. It’s still running a cammed/chipped ABA, which is good for around 110hp or something. Few minor things before it’s ready for a VA inspection later this week (bumpers, turns, parking brake, and new fuel rail going on tonight), but…
Too bad I’ll have to take them off for my ugly winter wheels in about a month, hahaha
Rears are all the way down but left the perches in; fronts are almost all the way down.
Finally ordered coilovers for the GTI. Should be installed by Wednesday; hooray one day shipping!
Turns out it was in a mk2, not a mk1, so rear seat and door cards will require some persuasion to install, but the fronts are in and fresh as f*ck!
Found this interior for sale; fits my car. It's in a silver cabriolet right now, mine is a Rabbit, but it will fit without much effort.
So this is a thing that is happening. Friend of mine who used to use this truck to transport his Ducati to the track is now retired, and has lost interest. Car is a running gas (1.6 or 1.7, I forget) model with factory A/C!
Had a little surprise for me in my mailbox at the office this morning - pretty great!
Made a quick run to Manassas last night and bought something for the Caddy build.
Drove the mk1 to work yesterday in the snow for the first time. Being northern VA, everyone was crashing and generally driving like idiots. Took 3 hours to get to work instead of the usual 40 minutes.
For all nova/dc area Opponauts: Lindsay Volkswagen is having their 2nd annual Oktoberfest today!
So, got some goodies, and another big one is on the way...
Harry Vannie is a good friend of mine and Ryan's, as well as all of his coworkers both at Lindsay VW in Sterling, VA, and now Stohlman VW in Tyson's Corner, VA.
*shameless self congratulation*
I want a slick, quality tool roll. Preferably something like waxed cotton.
For those of you who don't know already, I totaled my MK6 GTI Wolfsburg edition about two or so weeks ago. Hit a deer, then took down a small tree, I was fine, car was not.
