I made a ton of money in this pyramid scheme, so you can too!”

We need this.

It works fine and I can brake later than stock now, but it definitely takes getting used to if all you know is power assisted cars. I wouldn’t recommend it for most cars, but for something as light as a Lotus, it’s doable.

I saw one of these parked by the curb in Paris and flipped out.  My girlfriend didn’t know what the big deal was, until I told her to check out the interior.  All those European exotics, and this turned out to be the car we were most intrigued by.

I get a little bit of that experience with my Lotus, but the steering isn’t bad.  However, I removed the power booster from the braking system and put in a bias adjuster instead.  Unboosted brakes means that you better not skip leg day (I do that too much) when trying to stop this car.  Especially at track, where leg

They didn’t do anything for me. My Lotus has spoiled me and, in terms of the sports car aspect, is just so much better than any Porsche I’ve ever driven

Porsches just don’t do it for me. I looked at 718s, considered the GT4, looked at GT3s, before deciding, fuck it, I’m just gonna go with what my heart suggests and get a 124 daily. In the end, I love my Lotus, which I’ll take to the grave.  By contrast, I respect Porsche, but there is no emotion in how they deliver

I’m surprised even Mazda didn’t mention that they strengthened the casing on the gearbox, hopefully putting an end to the gearbox failures.  Then again, mentioning that might lead to them acknowledging the ND1 gearbox has an issue when the car is tracked or autocrossed, so on second thought perhaps it wasn’t that

I mean, I just picked up a 124 because I missed my old NB more than I like my current997TT, but I guess I haven’t driven anything special. Would you like to buy a 997TT?

Only a karting track? What are you, some kind of poor?

Fear that every little thing will lead to our defenseless selves being unable to defend ourselves.

The failures also seem to be concentrated around vehicles that are tracked or autocross’d so g-loading might have something to do with it.  It also seems to be mostly limited to Club models so I’m not sure if the additional loading of a LSD has anything to do with it.

It’s highly likely it was the casing flex causing the gears to fail. The distance between the gears are tightly controlled by the casing. If the distance varies a significant amount due to flex, you’ll either have teeth clash or chatter. Both of those are killer.

Damn.  The convenience store in Paris ripped me off then (I was in France for Le Mans).

Sorry to disappoint you even further, but the eggs from the old country are like that too now.

The biggest news of the ND2 is actually not reflected in the specs.  The transmission casing has been revised and strengthened.  That should finally put an end to the transmission failures of NDs that are driven hard.

Kudos for dailying an Elise, not many do it.  To just hammer home the point, a couple weekends ago, I took the 997TT to Laguna Seca.  The weekend after that, I drove the Elise to Walmart.  I had more fun driving the Elise to Walmart than I did driving the 997TT at Laguna Seca.  That’s when I knew I had to get rid of

Good news Patrick, my 997TT (manual coupe) is for sale. Inquire within.
