I 'm not confusing anything. I don't think the school's dress code is misogynistic. And perhaps I missed where the girls were told they were "too slutty." Can you link to where a school official stated that?

It is relevant in two ways: 1) she has children to support and thus the job is quite important to her (unlike a lot of the straight-out-of-college legal assistants we hire who don't take the job quite as seriously because they can always rely on Mommy and Daddy if they fuck up—-which they often do) and 2) if she…
The editorial slant of this article is that the dress code is oppressive towards girls. I personally take the editorializing of Jezebel with a huge truckful of salt. A blanket policy that undergarments not show makes complete and utter sense to me. I went to high school where I could see the complete outline of the…
Yes, technically they are gifts to the US Gov't. But in practice they are "gifts" to her (or heavily discounted). It's a win-win: Michelle O. gets to wear gorgeous, expensive gowns without having to run into ethics issues (for spending gov't $ on couture) and the designers get incredible exposure and press.
Sigh. Is "Sexism of High School Dress Codes!!!" the new "Photoshopping Scandal!!!" of Jezebel?
Oh, I don't mean on a daily basis. But for the Spring gala season in NYC the high-ranking women in finance that I know will have their personal shoppers snag an average of 3 on-season designer gowns to wear to them them. They are, at all times, impeccably dressed.
It would not be "Ok" since spaghetti strap tank tops violate out dress code but it probably wouldn't have caused HR to meet with her and threaten to send her home on her third day of work if she had been small-chested. She was literally spilling out of her top. The same article of clothing worn by different body…
You're welcome.
Could you send a link to the applicable rules that state that boys should dress "neatly" and girls "modestly"? Asking young men to pull up their pants so that their asses aren't hanging out seems to me to fall more on the "modesty" side of things so I'm a bit confused by your argument.
Hedge fund managers can't wear nice clothes?
She's wearing a couture gown almost weekly. $400K isn't even close to enough money to pay for what she wears. They are given to her as gifts.
For a lot of people the school system is the only place where they can learn these sort of "soft skills."
This is much ado about nothing. Different places have different dress codes. Boys at my school were "called out" for dress code violations just as much as the girls (for not wearing belts/sagging pants, primarily). Teaching young people that not everything in life is "come as you are" is helpful. I work in a law…
You sound terrible.
I remember having nothing but free time as a kid. They'll be ok.
Ummmm, Sarah Palin is hot???!!! Obviously you're smoking the crack pipe. Drugs are NOT your friend.
Yes.
JJ is joking.
She's joking.
She's getting paid for mentions.
