Is anyone else over the Olympics? I loved it as a child. Now I view it as the monetizing of manufactured nationalism often at the expense of countries who cannot afford to host them.

It’s odd that the IOC doesn’t have a contingency plan for this exact scenario. This can happen anywhere in the world, and to throw all your eggs in one basket is clearly insane.

The Olympics are incredibly unsustainable. It won’t be too much longer before the number of host city bids drops to 1 or 2 total. They should really be investigating a permanent location for the games where new infrastructure doesn’t need to be built, then left to rot every 4 years.
