Since Damon and Stefan entered the Phoenix stone hell, I feel like this season has been AU TVD. From then onward nothing made sense and the current story is just following down the rabbit hole.
The introduction of Rayna and the Armory have just been swallowed up in layers of nonsensical mythology that feels like it was

Just re-watched a couple of scenes. The loophole according to Ambrose is that the "souls" could land in a newly transitioning vamp. Stefan's body was soulless, since his soul went into the stone and was released into the ether with all the others, so that is how Ambrose was able to claim that Stefan's "empty" corpse.

Unless they jumped into a vampire like Ambrose did. I still a bit fuzzy on the deets on that.

Julie Plec has been fire fighting angry fans on twitter who are saying pretty much the same thing. Apparently Damon has made some bad decisions that he needs to acknowledge and take responsibility for.
Well no shit Sherlock, we all get it, but this show acts like he is the only one that does that. Everyone else is

In a season where logic, consistency and character development has been neglected, it's no surprising that they can't even keep the mythology straight.

It would be merciful at this point.

If I were Damon, I would jumping back in that coffin ASAP whilst flipping everyone the bird.

Did we really need all those heavily romantic scenes complete with the green-screen beach, stars and love ballads, if they were planning to torpedo it all 2 episodes later? It makes a mockery of it all in hindsight doesn't it and Stefan an insincere prick to boot.

The scar disappeared because Rayna's mission to put Stefan in the stone again was achieved. The stone no longer exists so neither does the scar anymore. I'm not sure if she is still mystically compelled to hunt vampires anymore, but she didn't seem to care that much when she was, so.

The all powerful siphoner heretics turned out to be pretty useless, with their siphoning abilities only used for literally siphoning the screen time away from everything else more interesting into the huge black hole that is TVD logic. They can't siphon magic from magic scars, magic daggers, magic vaults etc until

Agreed. I don't understand the logic used to explain how Val deduced Stefan didn't love her or something because he was begging her to stop the spell. So If he did love her, he would have let her kill herself to save him because that WOULD have been worth it? Nope, it was contrived as hell.

"Honestly I think Elena was a mistake for Damon from square one. Not only was she the love of Stefan's life, she was also a human woman with no desire to become a vampire."

Ha ha Angelique, we have a lot in common, but on this one we part ways.

Well he was newbie naiive vamp and he stayed true to his good southern values and remained celibate for 50 yrs before he made that leap while he was waiting for Katherine.
I'm with Ya girl, I'm not so stuck on DE that I don't want to see Damon enjoying his life in the interim. He will let go of her next season and live

How the heck did she miss Ripper Stefan when he was on a 20 year bender? The notorious Ripper of Monterey who pillaged villages and highschools, who was so notoriously vicious that he made it onto The Originals radar.

Nope, I actually really liked S6.
Despite a sad ending, I felt like there was actually really good character development for all the mains that has been mostly wasted and/or reset this season.

I'm a solid Enzo fan, always have been. I also like Bonnie and want a great story for her, so I'm all in for whats about to unfold between these two.
I have always believed in the potential of Enzo since he was brought in in s5, and I have rooted for him to find a place in this show.
Bonnie has always been more

Again, the show went through a whole lot of confusing mental gymnastics to get Damon to the point where he decides to dessicate. At that moment of the story, Damon was backed into a situation where he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Stick around and endanger everyone he ever cared about while they

Another on point review that articulates exactly what is not working with this show right now.

Agreed.
I think they wanted to put Caroline as the lead female protagonist, hence her emotional arc last season, and her relationship with Stefan that would serve as the central romantic pairing going forward.
It hasn't worked at all, perhaps because Steroline is not really that interesting despite the efforts to make
