My wife made grilled cheese sandwiches with sharp cheddar, american, and bacon (on a rustic country white bread from Whole Foods), and we ate them with potato chips (Munchies in my case).

Whenever someone posts on Ring about a stolen Trump sign, I post, “I thought this was America! Land of the free!” The response is always about personal property, and I respond, “This is what tyranny looks like. Do you know who else was against theft? Hitler."

i just want you to know that i am desperately repressing the urge to tell you to go weed the tomatos.

personally, i think the attention on farmers in the modern era is driven by the mythologization of them as the “self-sufficient and independant” sort.

It’s interesting to see how long the history is of various male-dominated endeavors trying to use women to advance the males’ causes. When the Roman Catholic Church worked to convert “pagan” rulers during the Late Antique and Early Middle Ages, they often did this by focusing on the wife or consort of the ruler.

Sexism, for one, but also “anti-establishment” which is about the only term that can be used for both Bernie and Trump.

Full disclosure: I live in the suburbs. I’m a Caucasian woman and happily married. Also a *soccer mom* (field hockey and lacrosse mom too).

Undecided and/or swing voters come in basically two flavors: Trump voters who stay mum because they don’t wanna get yelled at and dudes who never miss an opportunity to play devil’s advocate.

David Sedaris said it best:

“Unlike the majority of women, who might demand concrete things to vastly improve their lives, the soccer mom is already comfortable.”

I have the day off and I voted weeks ago, so I’m putting my election day energy into making lasagna. Can’t make lasagna without drinking wine...

Yeah, it’s just so weird to be willing to essentially vote on the opposite ends of the spectrum. I had a friend that was a Bernie supporter in 2016 and ended up voting for Trump when Bernie wasn’t an option. I still can’t get him to articulate in any meaningful way why the switch. But part of me also thinks he kinda

I think it’s also a hold-over from the 80s and 90s when “middle class non-working white woman” was the sitcom-esque pinnacle of success? “Yes, I can sit around in my McMansion and drink wine all day!” But the reality is that the middle class is shrinking, single-income households are less common, and these “soccer

Near as I can tell, it’s the kind of people who enjoy being contrarian assholes. They want whoever will piss off the other side the most. These are the kind of people who whine endlessly about “cancel culture” (not actually a thing that exists).

I have learned that while her vote is apparently fickle and flippable...

I’ve had trouble locating my exact discomfort about the suburban mom trope, and this article does a really good job articulating it. Mostly I feel like white suburban women are not a voting bloc with homogenous desires and needs, but also we don’t deserve the attention? As you said “Unlike the majority of women, who

Yeah I think Snipes forgot that his behavior on set has been collaborated by multiple people, not just Oswalt. All of them have the through line of an ego maniac that was going method (ever notice they only go “method” when its license to be a total asshole?) and resented sharing the spotlight with any co-stars. Also

There’s no larger point. Oswalt only felt free to talk about how much of a mess Snipes was during the production because it had already become common knowledge. Costars and the director had already come out, and have since, talking about how impossible Snipes was during that production. He wouldn’t even come out of

Note that Halle Berry accused Snipes of beating her so badly that she is almost deaf in one ear, and this fact gets nary a mention here.

The solution to systemic and subconscious bias isn’t to shield individual bad actors from criticism because they’re minorities. That just feeds into the model minority expectation and places an unfair demand on black people that they have to be perfect all the time.
