Daaaaaaamn. When I saw the headline, my eyes popped and my jaws dropped because I thought he was being literal, not sarcastic. I cringe for his social feeds, but I thank him for his commentary.

I always miss that sort of structure on Kinja. I hate that you don’t know what comment people are responding to. This system is a piece of shit, including the bullshit grey status. Ah well. It is what it is.
Were you ever familiar with the website Television Without Pity? Years ago, before they sold it to some big corporate interest, they used to have super-strict rules for commenting and their writers also moderated the boards to ensure adherence. (Actually it could get a bit oppressive at times, but I digress.)
So it’s better to stick with #thoughtsandprayers?
LOL. Just here to post my sympathy for you. Nobody ever reads the existing comments before endlessly repeating what’s already been stated, it seems.
Those were good times. (I’m from Canada and we had NO drills! Although I suspect even Canadian kids do lockdown drills nowadays.)
At the risk of getting torched, I must admit that while I enjoyed Get Out and am happy for its success, I did not think it was one of the 9 best pictures of the year. I felt like the final act did not hold up. There I said it.
Your initial comment made it seem like the gist of the lawsuit was about her wearing an ugly fleece jacket. You sounded like you either didn’t know about all the other egregious behaviour, or didn’t think it was a factor. That’s probably what sparked the comment from Mazeltov Cocktail.
Maybe she should have hashtagged it #HerToo
Yes I got that. It was a good point. My response was about “most or all” getting worked up about it. I don’t really think it’s either of those.
Okay. Just to clarify: I didn’t dismiss any comments and only do that with obvious over the top burner account trolls.
Is this because I didn’t respond to your initial comment? Sorry, I forgot about it - the comments were flying fast and furious last night.
This will now haunt me.
I don’t get it but I still want to encourage obscure Russian jokes.
I think both behaviours are “human nature” and one doesn’t get a pass just because it’s coming from women. Hot takes and pile ons are also rude and silencing and bullying.
Totally agree. There’s a guy who shows up on Jez once in awhile with a long moniker that starts with “dwayne”. He makes provocative comments and he’s a bro type. He engaged me on something I said from a perspective that had a whiff of MRA. I replied carefully and respectfully and underscored the parts of his comment…
I don’t have a dog in the MD fight but I’d just like to say that I don’t feel like Jez is a safe space, even sans trolls. A lot of women come down pretty hard on women if they aren’t as “woke” as they’re supposed to be. It’s disturbing sometimes, the “shoot first, ask questions never” mentality that one sometimes…
Whaaaat? That rings no bells and it does not sit right.
Spoiler (in more than one sense): Scott had a girlfriend. I HOPE THEY BROKE UP!
ha ha, same here! The glorious, confusing introduction to online community, and Bittersweet Symphony...
