That's what I think of when I hear jokes about Chinese names and falling silverware, or how THE DASH DON'T BE SILENT. I think "plenty of people in other parts of the world think the name Todd is fucking weird."

Definitely not the only one. Last time I was at a funeral, I wore a basic black shift dress: hi-necked and knee length, black tights, black peacoat. I would say I lean toward "boring" I guess. I've never really thought of it before, but somber black is what you're supposed to wear in my culture.
That link is the best thing ever to come out of Buzzfeed.
Ah, fair enough.
Please tell me, how am I awful?
All those poor kittens and puppies who died during the filming... :/
I've been enamored with Old lady names for the past few years. I like Ruth, Hazel (a Grandmother/Great Grandmother of mine), and Greta.
The moral of the story is that when white people name their kids something ridiculous it's hipster and twee. (I'm lookin' at you, Kale). But when black people name their kids something ridiculous its HAHAHAHA SO GHETTO.
Oh man, my biggest issue with Buzzfeed is how damn addicting it is. it's pure brain mush run by evil, yet I can't stop clicking.
I would say OP went to attack mode before any shaming occurred.
People seem to think that future generations will have no way to grasp references/concepts/etc from before they were born, which is so silly. If that were true I would have never spent a summer obsessed with Bob Dylan, being born in the mid-80s and all.
I'm *far* more amused by how fast you went on the attack just because a stranger on the internet says they don't share one specific character flaw that you and many other people (myself included) have. You've made up this entire scenario in your head about this person claiming to be perfect because they don't have…
I was Miss Prettylastname, but then I got married to Mr. Okname-Finename. I did not want to be hyphenated, but also wanted to have a family name that was Ours. This was way more important to me than my husband. He would have been just as content if I had remained Ms. Prettylastname. We settled on me taking One of his…
What do you mean by sinister? Because the only thing I could think that would fit under that term would be if she intentionally got pregnant, to carry it to term, to sacrifice it on some sort of blood altar.
I imagine it's all part of a thorough investigation. If there's a group of people who should dot every i and cross every t it's medical examiners.
What's my excuse?
Or maybe, just *maybe* this article is highlighting a mindset that is a backlash to the"do it all" 70s/80s mindset and the way it is inherently damaging. Women are either Weak or Strong, and to be a Strong Woman you have to do it all- run a household to perfection which usually includes single-handedly taking care of…
I'm 28, recently married, no kids with no plans on having them anytime soon, with a decent paying low skill/low effort job and for the most part I'm cool with that. Sometimes I feel like I "should" be at a more advanced place in my life/shouldn't have dropped out of college, etc. Mostly I feel bad that I tell myself…
Sometimes I feel like half of Jezebel is from Wisconsin... lol.
You bring up a good point. Is it "pathetic" to pin stuff of how you'd decorate your future dream home? Pictures of the cities you'd like to travel to? Parenting ideas, before you have kids? Clothes you can't afford? What's wrong with a little "maybe one day," a little fantasizing?
