BPC was actually dressed as a woman and smuggled across by a woman called Flora MacDonald. There's a statue of her in Inverness.

I am loving the show and adore the books but, being from the Highlands, the pedant in me is struggling with the accents. To be fair though, it's not an easy accent to get right. Geillis' is by far the most off but I'm trying to cope. At least she looks the part.
