Basically this sums up my position on sex work/porn/feminism:

I am not being sarcastic when I reply to you: please write more of your thoughts about this. Let's talk about exploitation and physical harm, to start with. Also, if there's any place that fails to fight patriarchal norms of masculinity and femininity and how they interact, it's *most* porn.

While fighting against judgement and puritanism is certainly needed, there are other far more worrying issues regarding the porn industry and harm to women than stigma.

Doing porn as an adult seems to be the equivalent of picking your nose as a kid. Is it illegal? No. Is everyone a hypocrite if they make you feel like a freak for it? Probably. Will it give you a reputation you may never live down? Yeah, unfortunately it probably will.

I think sometimes abusive parents have a tendency to believe the lies they've told themselves about how wonderful their children's childhoods were. Particularly if their children turned out to be decent adults.

Yeaaaah, not so much. Someone else having an abortion doesn't affect anyone else. Someone not vaccinating their kid potentially affects a lot of people. You know, as evidenced by the resurgence of diseases that were all but eradicated. When abortions become contagious, get back to me on that hypocrisy argument.

I think the point that countesslemongrab was trying to make was that these parents were loving their child, in their way. They have a narrow worldview, informed by a narrow faith but that doesn't alter that they loved their child.
