If you thought that notion was antiquated in the 70s, imagine my utter dismay that it was still a practice way into the 80's. Girls in my high school were getting cedar hope chests as graduation presents. Some with china or linens. Holy hell, I was stunned.

How dare she push for something that she was contractually entitled to, how dare she. I’m sure she probably was an asshole in other ways, but I’m on her side in not letting them slide on those ones.

I was going to ask - is it (once again) acceptable to wear enough perfume that someone serving you from behind a counter would be able to pick up on? Ever since moving to the US, I absorbed the doctrine you stated above.

I am of the opinion only someone kissing, hugging, or on the rush hour subway next to you should be able to smell your perfume
