this isn’t a pop quiz.
I’m assuming this is a Gen Admin show. Even so, if I spent hours waiting in line so I could get a good seat, I’d be pretty pissed if someone told me to go to the back of the room. And if someone paid for more expensive seats up front, telling them to move to the back is so not cool.
I have questions...and issues.
I love Jaws and it has something for everyone. “Normal” people root for the crew of The Orca. Brooding contrarians root for the shark. It’s only doing what sharks do. Republicans root for the Mayor and the real estate developers.
It’s pretty sad that The Emmys are still seen as lesser than The Oscars even after fucking La La Land nearly won Best Picture. Mediocre films are still lauded more than excellent television.
There were a lot of people on the Igloo Australia article trying to insist that her whiteness was a liability rather than an assest, hence the comparison to MM, who actually put in the time and effort and won respect as opposed to blowing guys who produce music, or being a poor Orphan Annie type that Daddy Drebucks…
But the success of Fancy had little to do with Iggy. It was the Charli XCX chorus that clicked and is the only part of the song that people remember.
...Man, I think I’m going to keep coming back to this piece all day, thinking about it more. Upon reflection, this bit is really sticking with me:
I’m white and I benefit from white privilege. I spend a lot of time thinking about social justice and how I, as a white person, can do my part to fight systemic problems and look for solutions. I vote for candidates that support racial equality, criminal justice reform, etc.
From micro-aggressions to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this shit.
No one is under any moral or legal obligation to think like me, but I find it weird that Angelina Jolie does not seem to have any female friends. Those kids are going to grow up, Brad will leave again and she’ll be stuck with maybe her brother? I picture her wandering some French castle in a hooded cloak, talking to…
I mean this honestly and openly: I don’t know what you’re asking me. I say I’m understanding of Ayaan, and I haven’t made any statements about the subject of the article. I’m not particularly familiar with Sarsour and I don’t really have an opinion on her yet. Ayaan has been around for quite a while now, so I’ve…
The tweet in question. Whatever you feel about Ayaan, her anger and her activism comes from a place of genuine suffering. And given the fact that she DID suffer from FGM, saying “she doesn’t deserve to be a woman” is gross and indefensible. Because it’s something that someone almost literally tried to inflict upon…
Seriously. I can’t believe Stassa is this naive. This isn’t about bipartisanship. What the Democrats are doing right now isn’t pandering to Republicans, it’s dividing to conquer. They’re saying “hey, non-batshit crazy, moderate Republicans, come work with us instead of President Cheeto, the fundamentalist Christians…
Pointing out the fact that this entire performative pregnancy and childbirth reaches levels of Diva that would make Mariah and Christina proud isn’t racist. Slap any other person on that photo and it would still be ridiculous, especially considering thay photos of children tend to have the CHILDREN as the main focus,…
Dearest Beyonce,
Is the Bey Hive that powerful that we can’t call her out for being a Mariah level of narcissist in that photo?
I think that’s kind of common actually. I’ve talked several friends through the whole “The one that hurt you is the one that promised to you” thing, which is the actual correct answer. But a couple of years ago there was this girl gunning hard for my boyfriend (and he was semi-game) and I hated her. Like couldn’t even…
Yeah some alt-right motherfucker called me a “race traitor” the other day when he found out I (white lady) am engaged to an Indian man, so good to know this kind of bullshit attitude transcends political boundaries (NOT).
Personally I’m tired of people attacking interracial relationships. I hated when Jill Scott did it several years ago and I hate it now. Because underneath the rant about interracial relationships is the hatred of biracial people. We get it, you don’t think we should exist.
