This whole situation is insulting, but one of the insulting parts of every one of these stories is that, not only do they think black people are all crooks, but they think all black people are bad crooks.

Not every role is for every actor and this is pretty widely acknowledged and not all that controversial, unless you want to be purposefully obtuse about it. So, that essentially creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. Productions won’t hire minority actors because pretty much all of them aren’t A-list. Minority actors can’t become A-list because A-list productions won’t hire them. Rinse and repeat.

Because her taking it actively prevents trans people from using their own voices in a system where they already experience extraordinary marginalization and erasure. She’s an active participant in the oppression of trans folks by taking this role. How is that not clear?
