This will probably be true with smartphones. We'll see almost all apps and games become multiplatform. It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft steals all of the iphone's 3rd party exclusives for its platform like it did against Sony's playstation 2 and 3.

I hate to say this but it's going to take centuries before we can even get regular ordinary citizens outside of our solar system! Even if we dedicate 400x the manpower to space exploration and have a larger sized population of space enthusiasts, it's still going to take mans constant motivation to improve humankind

@Black Knight Rebel: You're completely wrong and probably the minority on this one. The human thumb naturally sits upward, that's why every console except Sony's has a proper controller.

This is like saying Zune sales are cannibalizing ipod sales after seeing lower ipod sales and marketshare. Any product that gains any kind of foothold in a certain market will look like it's hurting the sales of a competing product, when in fact that's not the case. The ipad brought in new consumers to the netbook

@mrjoeyyaya: The government is hiding aliens, Obama isn't a U.S. citizen, Bush caused 9/11, FEMA camps are real, and Joe Biden is actually a Russian spy.

@Acheron: The way backwards compatibility is utilized IS innovation. Just like Nintendo's virtual console was innovative, so is this. Just another convinient way to properly play older games.

@Mark M: PC and Mac games work together (Steam, Starcraft 2), but they're the same kind of hardware.

@mazel: The PS2 simply can't be compared to the Wii in terms of sales. The Wii will shortly overtake all PS2s sold and will continue to sell strongly even after 9 years depending on if Nintendo continues to sell it that long. There's also other factors to this such as the Wii probably being twice as reliable as the

Nintendo should have done this years ago. Every console except the Wii (excluding handhelds) lacked backward compatibility. Even a modest accessory enabling backwards compatibility would have been praised. I would also love a re-release of the N64 controller or even an adapter enabling it to be played, or an accessory

@vinod1978: $500 is the starting price for the lowest specs. Netbooks start from $200 and do everything you said above and more.

@hawkeye18: I believe nVidia is in a lawsuit with Intel. I don't think a buy-out will happen any time soon.

@vinod1978: While I would agree, the ipad is still very limited to many demographics because the cost far outweighs the benefits, where a netbook would be more practical economically and suitably for most people.

@Strife Fox †: The PS1 basically set a whole new standard for the RPG genre. Nintendo simply could not compete on that front when Sony had the upper hand in sound quality and CG thanks to the CD format, which makes all the difference.

@djdare: And it doesn't void your warranty.

@Preacher iTofu a.k.a. Scammer Money: That could work! Although I would much prefer Bing maps on WP7, I'm not sure if Google will make a map app on WP7, and if they did it wouldn't be that great.

How about this: Stop all government funding of all scientific research not relating to the government's best interest (everything but national park-related research, space exploration, military etc.). An efficient government is a small government that does only what it is supposed to do, that is to protect the people,
