Agreed. I do however like Tresorit's concept of having an encrypted service, it's convenient. Any word on Google's encryption project?

It's great to see an US carrier stepping up to provide easier global travel.
Great article Alan. Been using BoxCryptor with SkyDrive/Google Drive but I've been looking for another provider with built-in security. Will have to checkout Tresorit's Android and OS X. Thanks!
Using Whatsapp and Google Hangouts but surprised to see the Wechat adoption in China. No one was familiar with any other services. Having to use all three services now to chat with different people...
This could definitely come in handy when we're dealing with our supply partners that need to send us a large AI or PDF file. Thanks Alan.
Brilliant! Looks like we're going to have to use this in our business...
Just installed Crashplan yesterday to replace our Mozy backup routine. Liking the simplicity and flexibility so far. Thanks Alan!
We were grandfathered into a Mozy Pro plan but it looks like CrashPlan is the way to go. Thanks for the excellent article and timing. We're working on our backup routines this coming week.
I feel your pain.
Sweet tips Alan! We may have to use the hack to power some of our (PoE) phones in our office!

Alan, fantastic article. Trevor, great point. Was just about to ask Alan how the retailer can associate a MAC address with a user's profile. I suppose it can work like this-
Fantastic list. Will have to try some of these including Hideman (was using Hideninja), Boomerang, 1Weather, and Lookout. Still waiting for the Any.Do calendar app.
Just downloaded the HDD Disk Capacity Meter script, thanks. Not an executable install, requires placing files in a specified folder with a script. Wish it was an easier install.
It's very Yelp like- instead of business listings with reviews, it's people listing with recommendations. Why not a five star ranking system like everything else (business listings, product listings, etc)? Perhaps it's a blend of Yelp + LinkedIn? The number of homes sold is a nice feature.
Great article Alan. We've been using Saleforce's Do.com but TickTick might be a nice alternative. The Chrome extension is a nice add-on.
Most computer USB ports have a .5A output. It is recommended that you use a 2A charger for your iPad (will accept 1A). The low amperage output is why your iPad 2 isn't charging when connected to your computer.
500 cycles is now the new norm for Grade A cells (best quality). Partial charges do not count. The first ~500 full charges, you can expect high 90 percentile performance. Afterwards, you can expect the battery performance to drop to the mid 80's.
