I have never been a fancy or respectable newspaper columnist, but I did spend many years at Gawker combing the entire output of our nation’s media in desperate search of things to make fun of.

Thank you. It has always seemed to me that those who are so concerned with presenting as - or sought others who define as - “straight acting” still carry some internalized self loathing.

While I’m normally in the same space of mind the videos from inside the school are heart wrenching enough to maybe change people’s minds.

When people say we are raising wimps I laugh because at my age I didn’t have to deal with mass shootings, it was before 9-11 and frankly carefree compared to what kids have to deal with now.

As much as I hate reading about yet another school shooting, I hate seeing the photos of parents grieving more. These people are suffering horribly, FFS, they don’t need cameras recording that pain too.

Unfortunately it never gets old.

No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.
