Do you honestly not know that if you want even a glimmer of hope at making it in F1, you have to start pretty much as soon as you can reach the pedals of a kart? Starting at 8 is probably too old, sadly.

I don’t believe that there’s as much of an interest gap as you think. I was floored when I saw how many people in the age group of students I teach were participating in autocross and drag race events at the school I saw that event at. I think when the opportunity is presented appropriately many many more would try.
