I’m adopted and got the “they’re not your real parents” shit all the time because I’m obviously a different, undermined race/ethnicity. The comments seemed to come from white people only. It always hurt me, because those are my real parents and have been since I was 2 days old.

I had the exact situation. Dated Vietnamese guy, who was shorter than I was to boot! We received a lot of comments within the Vietnamese community that I, gladly, couldn’t understand. People said mean, ugly, gross shit and he heard it all.

I also think a lot of his comment (we paid for you) is due to a dynamic of misogyny. I can’t see someone doing the exact same thing to a male celeb (in this way). I think fab would generally be, “oh, okay. Sorry.” And walk away, instead of foisting this shit on a female celeb.
