I still think it sucks that that’s considered compromise on her part, as if it’s a given that she would have to change her name in any way just because she got married but there is no expectation at all that men do. It’s a fucking infuriating tradition.

Cue butthurt comments from women who say there’s nothing sexist about taking their husband’s last name.

Drug-induced psychosis. Not mental illness. He chose to take drugs, a mentally ill person doesn’t choose to be ill.

E’Dena Hines was not exorcised. She was murdered, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend. Which is much more mundane, and much more frightening.

if Ri-Ri could just rub those 2 brain cells together and catch a damn clue

Because statistics. Most men who kill their partners have a history of being violent and abusive toward them. They don't just kill them one day out of the blue.

He’s a “feminist” yet the minute a woman turns him down he starts quoting the Donald about angry women and their bleeding vaginas...

It’s hard to exercise with 2 giant sillicone jugs on your chest.

Statistically, there’s a way higher probability that this is intimate partner violence. But if you want to cling to this maybe being the exception and that this guy had never been violent or abusive toward his gf and then one day suddenly snapped and killed her out of nowhere because mental illness, be my guest. I

Probably because with your first comment,

I’m the opposite. Love his movies and super excited for another Haynes-Blanchett collaboration. Her performance in “I’m not there” was scary good.

As much as I loved the written piece, your illustrations really blew me away.

And because it’s funny. I’m one of those people who truly believes anything can be funny - even rape (and not just a joke where rape is involved) if the comedian is smart and funny enough to pull it off.

Please elaborate.

Waffling how?

As could your knowledge of intimate partner violence and women getting killed by their partners.

No it’s not. Do your research. Statistically, when women are murdered by their partners, there is generally a history of DV within that relationship and the killer generally has a history of violence. They don’t just up and kill their partner one day without ever having been violent before. I’m not making that up.

No one is saying that non-mentally ill people are getting away with murder by claiming mental illness. I’m just saying stop making every murder about mental illness because the reality- that men kill their female partners because they’re violent, sexist assholes - is too difficult to face.

So... no big deal? A woman is dead but hey, mentally ill people get a bum deal and it’s hard to determine if they’re a danger to others or themselves, so what if every once in a while they lose their shit and stab their girlfriend on the sidewalk?

Well, don’t you sound perfectly sane.
