When I realised I’d be watching an entire Darin Morgan X-Files episode with the guy from ‘If Google was a Guy’ I was hooked! Brian Huskey is awesome, and I hope Reggie pops up again at some point. Great review.

It took me a minute but then I was sure —Dr. They was played by Stuart Margolin - James Garner’s delightful occasional goofball sidekick “Angel” on the Rockford Files. It was a treat to see him again.

Remember the movie Shaft, starring Shaquille O’Neal as a vigilante? What about Shazam, starring Samuel L. Jackson as a 1960s black nationalist?

Mulder’s head superimposed on a child’s body was perfect and unexpected. It set the stage for the episode’s tone. I’ve never laughed so hard.

I thought it was an interesting commentary on these rebooted? continued? seasons when Scully says at the end “I want to remember how it was ... I want to remember how it all was.” I hear ya, Morgan.

While the episode itself mostly amounted to somebody telling Mulder and Scully a shaggy dog story, it would be kind of strange if such things *didn’t* ever happen in their line of work, and I don’t mind if it’s as appealingly weird and thoughtful as this was. The episode probably grappled with the whole idea of what

Wasn’t the entire premise of the tattoo episode that she was purposefully doing something out of character? People do that kind of thing. It’s a thing that happens.

Imho, the episode wasn’t great but reminded me of mediocre MOTW episodes of season’s past that have little explanation and the best part is banter and chasing leads.

I just thought the whole thing that brought Scilly back into the arms of Mulder being some quip about being old and dried up by a psychotic woman was a bit out of character. I mean, not getting a tattoo possibly made with hallucinatory ink character, but still not really “Scully”, in the way that the generalization “a

The scene of Mulder seeing his doppleganger going straight into the commercial about twins was a pretty inspired ad placement, or just a huge coincedence!

“Scully and Mulder’s complete lack of response to either of their deaths (beyond barely concealed amusement) enhances the general who-gives-a-fuckedness of the whole enterprise.” This is a problem across all of filmdom and TV-dom these days. It is either some kind of universal production company directive to

Does anyone know Vince Gilligan’s phone number anymore? Doesn’t anybody want to try?

I enjoyed this episode a lot, but yeah...it often felt like there was another me, sitting in the corner of the room, pointing out that it wasn’t very good.
