I think it’s important to draw a distinction between people not being interested in “unoriginal” games and people experiencing genre fatigue. To continue your steak analogy, if I’ve been eating steak for dinner every day - sometimes amazing, sometimes so-so, sometimes steaks so good they make me question the nature of

The original hook of Shadowhawk (and, really, the only interesting thing about him) was that you didn't know who he was for a long time. The first big chunk of story, there were a number of supporting characters in the book and any one of them could have been Shadowhawk. It was a neat idea, though ultimately poorly

I don't care what anybody says, the New Warriors were awesome. They were Marvel's first try at a Teen Titans analogue, and it was fantastic. I will never not stand behind Speedball as a character, back before they wrecked him by adding tons of angst and misery to his story. Seriously, the original run of New Warriors

Good golly. I don't know about anybody else, but not a single thing I've ever heard about MOBAs sounds fun. They sound challenging, sure, and like there's a sense of reward for enduring long enough to become something like "good," and then surviving long enough after that to thrive - but that isn't the same as being

Dammit. Dammitdammitdammit. Even if there's a great story in this DLC (which I'm doubting, based on all the sidequesting in DAI to begin with), it's still wrapped in a new area to wander around in doing nothing of consequence to fill the required grind-time. I am so completely disappointed.

The designs for Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, and Thunderbird were all leftovers from when Cockrum was working on Legion of Superheroes. If you compare their designs with Cockrum's Legion run, they look like siblings.

Show me all the blogs you like and it wouldn't matter - it's a statistically insignificant number of people, and reveals nothing of the majority of mainstream opinion on diversity. Furthermore, I guarantee you that, were I to wander around those blogs, I would find a much more nuanced discussion of what makes good

The same exact thing could be said of the other side. Don't confuse the loud few with the majority. The internet creates a fog through which the loudest voices get the most attention and negative ideas tend to rise and reverberate more strongly than positive ones regardless of their actual support or frequency. It's

Some might. Most don't. Don't confuse a few people for the majority and paint everybody with the same brush. I'm not over here assuming you're somebody who's going to assault a woman (since, after all, all you guys give off the feeling of hating all women *sarcasm*). That would be a ludicrous thing to assume, both

You clearly don't know me very well, or you would know of my deep and enduring love for breasts. Of all sizes, sure, but particularly... well, whatever, but I love me some boobs. Love 'em. Ask my wife and her poor chest about all the attention it gets.

First off, those breasts are hardly "comically oversized." They're downright subdued compared to characters like your mention of Mai Shiranui. Secondly, there is no hypocrisy at all in enjoying this illustration and wanting more variety in character design.

Alright, a few things going on there and I want to take them a piece at a time.

The only thing "us guys" act like is that A) it would be nice if character design embraced a wider variety of body/personality types, and B) it's fun to see different/alternate takes on existing characters, including (but not limited to) when those reimaginings address point A.

It isn't hypocritical to suggest that it would be nice if there were more variety in female character design. That doesn't mean we should never see large-breasted women or women flaunting some sex appeal - only that it wouldn't hurt if that wasn't all we saw.

You'd be amazed how often these different departments are at war with each other. There was a period of time where WB's head guy was stepping down and there was no clear successor, so the heads of the TV, Film, and DVD/Home Entertainment divisions were actively trying to submarine each other so they'd wind up looking

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae opens with four bros in a tent. These bros, who are camping out in the wild because their car has broken down and they need to fix it so they can get back on their brotastic road trip, are immediately a blast to watch, a boy band with silly faces and even sillier names: There's the

Because the presumption is that animation is there to sell toys to children and that is all. It's why so few animated series last more than 3 seasons (they believe that by that time, all the kids that started with the show will have aged out of the toy-buying age) and why those who go longer will tend to change format

Thank you for that. You know, a big part of the reason my wife and I stopped trying to work for Marvel and DC and just started making our own comics was because we got tired of waiting for somebody else to do the superhero stories we wanted to read. Sometimes you just have to do it yourself, I guess.

Inquisition will probably wind up my least-played Dragon Age game. I'm a guy who ran 6 different Shepards through the complete ME saga, and played both previous DA games a minimum of 3 times through, but my second playthrough of DAI just felt kind of boring. I think after the initial "Wow!" wore off and I started

An excellent spread of solid storytelling. I wound up really disappointed with Inquisition, but it's still a really solid experience. And someday - someday - I'm going to get around to playing Chrono Trigger for the first time.
