Is it wrong to feel smug for not being in 'social media' every time I read something like that?

You could have called your dog your mother's maiden name, though...

If I had read this comment in the morning, I'd have coffee all over my keyboard...

Nice piece - informative, and well written. And extra thanks for an article without typos!

Good grief, this is a typical case of looking at something historical through today's glasses, with the result of some pseudo-spectacular distortion. Antibiotics weren't available yet at that time. And chalk and opium is essentially an early form of loperamide. Cannabis & chili makes sense for colics - it's

"Hey, aluminum recycles!" ... and that's why it annoys me when people toss their beer/soda cans into the 'regular' trash bin.

Yeah.... riiight.

I don't think that has to do anything with being picky. It's more about producing something which is 'good'. If you're in the writing business, do it well, both in terms of your research, and your grammar, and spelling. Just because it's free, it needn't be shoddy.

You forgot the Autobahn, as well as Kaffee und Kuchen.

Shouldn't a place like this be in Florida?!

'Works absolutely anywhere' - hmmm - have to give this a try, so let's put this.... OUUUUCH!

+1! And it does look utopian!

This Gary Larson cartoon comes to mind...

Walk across any campus nowadays: what you see - each and every student looking always down at a phone, texting while walking/talking/eating - is even more ridiculous than (the relatively few) people using these olden day bricks...
