@JohnTheTree: Actually, the belief that more metal is safer is wrong. There's many crash tests showing that relatively small cars (e.g. VW Golf class) are safer than big, ladder frame based vehicles. Of course, from a certain point on, mass is king, but I'm quite sure that a 40mph head-on in a, e.g., Chevy Blazer…
