It’s possible that Netflix’s deal was for a PG-13 space opera movie of a certain length, and Synder blew everything up too much that they had to chop it down.
Why is a directors cut even a thing for Netflix? For cinema and into home release, I understand. But you made a movie for home release...why not just release the vision you wanted to from the get go??

I really loved Warner Archive. Then it became FilmStruck, but ditched the classic TV portion (I wasn’t finished watching Dr. Kildare!).
Then they killed Filmstruck, and Criterion is just too darn expensive for what it has.
