They’re invoking the ghost of Harlan Ellison. He tortures producers in hell.

I could see this sect be a really interesting foil for Rey, but not villains. If they take a route where a much older Cal Kestis shows up with a generation of Jedi he’s been training, but Rey technically has the keys to the kingdom, so to speak, that could create some really interesting power struggles or moments of

That’s the whole story of both main bad guys in this game. I’d really hope with Cal leading, he would knowingly make sure to avoid any force sensitive people there, hold that hate.

That reminds me of the Honored Matres from the later Dune books. Founded from a group of Bene Gesserit who went off into deep unexplored space and came back as a new Order...

I love this! You can see it play out among the Hidden Sect of Tanalorr (TM). It just takes one charismatic leader to say, “Where did balance and altruism and detachment get us? Extinct? Was that the Will of the Force?”

Fast forward fifty years and you’ve got a hidden civilization made of a third religion of Force

“remistify”

almost no one knew Anakin was Vader so that doensn’t really hold water

Because they’re not just cancelling shows with “tiny” fanbases. They’re cancelling well-reviewed shows with solid viewerships right at the point where they would have to start paying residuals to the writers. It’s only shows with massive viewerships (like, say, Stranger Things) that are allowed to pass that point.

Somehow he looks even more like a corporate ghoul while giving the speech than in the header image.

I reckon we get AIs to replace the role of CEO more easily than that of a writer.

The kids are alright.

I will give Elon credit where due, otherwise I invalidate my criticisms of him. His rockets are the best rockets that have ever been built, and the tesla brought EVs into the mainstream against an uphill battle.

Yeah, SpaceX is not only doing fine,

“Here’s $42,000. Go see a Star War”

“It’s one API, Michael, what could it cost, $42,000?”

You know that CDs are still around, right? They did not “go away.”

That’s the single valid argument you can make, but you’re also right that practically nobody cares. We live in a world where the vast majority of people have budget panels, and are sitting at suboptimal distance with poor lighting and auto-motion plus turned on (because it comes that way from the factory).
