The game is nothing like what was promised initially, though.

Yep. While it’s certainly a game that was released before it was properly finished, the overall experience is pretty much what the developers promised from the start. I was disappointed in some details, but certainly not the game as a whole. The only thing that made me angry was the poor treatment of the developers,

It does. Just disconnect your internet connection before creating the account. Or alternatively, create a burner Microsoft account, log in with it, create a second, local account, and delete the Microsoft account.

An exercise in pointlessness, seeing that the GOG version of the game already comes without DRM. You don’t need the source code to sell copies of that.

Hackers often use bad English and ridiculous lingo to make it harder to connect their regular writing style to such ransom notes and threats.

How does a celebrity whose likeness is turned into CG porn any more involved than one whose face gets pasted on a deepfake? What is the difference between these two things, exactly?

Nothing wrong with consensual BDSM. Inviting the Internet over to participate, on the other hand, was a bad idea.

Only if it’s in their own neighbourhood, I assume.

And they should just accept all the non-consensual nude photos and deepfakes published of them, too, right?

That’s not relevant to this issue, especially with a game intended for mature audiences. The issue is that Keanu Reeves is a real person who owns his own likeness, and has a contract with CDPR on how they are allowed to use it. If that contract is broken on a site owned by CDPR, he can sue them for it.

Inevitable, probably, but CDPR is wisely covering their asses from legal action; they don’t own Keanu’s likeness, and if they seem to be endorsing a mod that uses it in a way that isn’t in the contract, they could open themselves up to a lawsuit.

Or, just spitballing here, you could change into a multi-party system and acknowledge that there’s more than two viewpoints that can be valid in politics.

Yeah, the Nazis revied an old concept and turned it up to eleven. The idea was to isolate the Jews from the Christian mainstream population by limiting where they could live and work, as well as make them wear clothing that clearly marked them as outsiders.

In Rivain, elves are free to live where they like and not contained in World War II style ghettos called alienages.

* pats on head *

If they cared about their reputation to that degree, they wouldn’t have released the game in this state. I’m not writing them off, but given the extent to which they screwed this up, they don’t have a lot of goodwill stored up.

Some still active on that list are still false assumptions on the part of the list’s maker or the journalists they’re referencing. Just for instance, “- 4 different styles, clearly highlighted, that you can adeere to and will make NPC react to it”.

When you start looking at the sources, you’ll find that a lot of them are just game journalists extrapolating “promises” from a lot more simple comments, or “wouldn’t it be cool if”-style speculations. Others were known to have been cut at least a year before the release, like the initially planned car customization,

“We’ve greatly enhanced our crowd and community systems to create the most believable city in any open world game to date. The city streets are bustling with crowds of people from all facets of life, all living their lives, with a full day night cycle”

What were we promised that wasn’t delivered? Apart from the bugs, all that I can think of is the poor AI, which looks to have been left unfinished, and hopefully will still be completed. The story and gameplay are pretty much exactly what I expected, minus car battles, and even with those I suspected from the start
